Geralt had unearthed it from some storage room in the keep. He sets it down gently on the makeshift stand and then opens to book he'd been reading. He's not sure how long passes, likely not too long because Witchers don't often sleep for long periods of time, until Jaskier starts to notice a very strange and terrible scent.
He wrinkles is nose but doesn't have time to do much more than that, because Eskel is sitting up and telling him to find Vesemir, and then Jaskier is off, rushing through the halls looking for the old man.
